Star Trek: Discovery
CBS is adding the first season of “Star Trek: Discovery,” the fourth season of “One Day at a Time” and Spectrum’s Cameron Britton and Jack Huston-led “Manhunt: Deadly Games” as well as a documentary spinoff of “FBI” to its schedule in September and October.
The shows will fill in the gaps head of their previously announced schedule of scripted dramas and comedies in November. This first airing of the ‘Discovery’ first season on a linear network comes ahead of the show kicking off its third season on the CBS All Access streaming service on October 15th. [Source: Deadline]
Interceptor
FOX has begun development of “Interceptor,” a one-hour Coast Guard drama from The Nacelle Company and Based On A True Story Productions. att Ochacher, Michael Pelmont and Brian Volk-Weiss executive produce.
Written by Katie J. Stone, David Daitch and John Pruitt, the series folllows a diverse rookie Coast Guard Special Forces team who must battle the drug infested waters off the coast of Florida, and navigate the streets of Miami, all while working through the trials of their personal lives. Between the World and Me
HBO has added nine more actors and actresses to the cast of the screen adaptation of Ta-Nehisi Coates’ “Between the World and Me”. Specifically Jharrel Jerome, Marc Bamuthi Joseph, Janet Mock, Jason Moran, Wendell Pierce, Mj Rodriguez, Kendrick Sampson, Yara Shahidi and Michelle Wilson are joining the line-up.
Angela Bassett, Alicia Garza, Joe Morton, Phylicia Rashad, Tariq ‘Black Thought’ Trotter, Courtney B. Vance, Pauletta Washington, Susan Kelechi Watson, and Oprah Winfrey lead the one-off special which will combine elements of the 2018 stage production, documentary footage, archival footage, and animation. Twenty Four Seven
T.I. (“Ant-Man,” “Takers”) is set to star in the crime drama series “Twenty Four Seven” which CBS All Access is in final negotiations to acquire. Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson, Dallas Jackson, T.I., Brian Sher and Tom Sullivan will executive produce for CBS TV Studios and Lionsgate TV.
The series, which is being written by Dallas Jackson based on Derrick Parker and Matt Diehl’s novel “Notorious C.O.P.,” will center on Parker (T.I.) and chronicle some of his work on the biggest criminal cases in rap history, from the shooting at Club New York to the first shooting of Tupac Shakur. Julie and the Phantoms
Netflix has released a new trailer for teen series “Julie and the Phantoms” which hails from “High School Musical” director Kenny Ortega. The series launches on the service September 10th.
High schooler Julie (Madison Reyes) lost her passion for making music after her mom died last year. But when the ghosts of three dreamy musicians (Charlie Gillespie, Jeremy Shada, Owen Patrick Joyner) from 1995 suddenly appear in her mom’s old music studio, Julie feels her own inner spirit beginning to reawaken, and she’s inspired to start singing and writing songs again.
