Apple has picked up the Israeli spy thriller series “Tehran” for a second season on its Apple TV+ platform. The show is the first non-English language series to earn a pickup from Apple and comes three months after its debut.
Niv Sultan stars as a Mossad agent who goes on a deep undercover assignment in the Iranian capital, placing her and everyone around her in grave danger. [Source: THR]
Paradise
“Grey’s Anatomy” star Ellen Pompeo is teaming with “Mad Men” writers Andre and Maria Jacquemetton to adapt Elin Hilderbrand’s best-selling book trilogy “Paradise” as a limited series on ABC.
The story revolves around a wife and mother who, after her husband’s perplexing death, learns he had been living a secret life with an entirely separate family on the Caribbean island of St. John. As she untangles a web of intrigue and deceit, she and her sons find themselves drawn into the vibrant island culture. [Source: The Live Feed]
The Fact of a Body
Jeremiah Zagar (“We The Animals”) will co-write and direct the limited series adaptation of Alex Marzano-Lesnevich’s memoir “The Fact Of A Body” for HBO.
The series is centered around a young lawyer, whose opposition to the death penalty is shaken when she’s assigned the case of a pedophile and child murderer whose complicated life story parallels the long-suppressed trauma of her past. [Source: Deadline]
Cocky
FOX has begun development of the animated comedy “Cocky” which hails from “The Knick” creators Jack Amiel and Michael Begler along with “Bob’s Burgers” animators Bento Box Entertainment.
The series follows Bert, a rideshare driver with a Ph.D., who is the smartest idiot in the world, and what happens when a guy who lacks any filter whatsoever lives with the most insecure, overly-sensitive talking Cockatoo on the planet. [Source: Deadline]
