Melissa Benoist bid farewell today to fans of The CW’s “Supergirl” as the series wraps production on its final season. Benoist posed in costume with fellow casts members Chyler Leigh and David Harewood following their six years of working together.

The thirteen-episode final run of the series will premiere Tuesday, August 24th with the finale expected to air sometime around Thanksgiving. [Source: Instagram]

Reginald the Vampire
“Spider-Man” breakout Jacob Batalon is set to star in the Syfy dramedy series “Reginald The Vampire” based on Johnny B. Truant’s “Fat Vampire” book series. Harley Peyton (“Twin Peaks,” “Chucky”) serves as showrunner.

The ten-episode series is set in a world populated by beautiful, fit and vain vampires. Reginald (Batalon) tumbles headlong into it as an unlikely hero who will have to navigate every kind of obstacle – the girl he loves but can’t be with, a bully manager at work and the vampire chieftain who wants him dead. Panic
Young adult drama “Panic,” based on Lauren Oliver’s novel, has been canceled after one season at Amazon. Olivia Welch, Mike Faist, Jessica Sula, Camron Jones, Ray Nicholson, and Enrique Murciano starred.

The story takes place in a small Texas town, where every summer the graduating seniors compete in a series of challenges, winner takes all, which they believe is their one and only chance to escape their circumstances. [Source: Variety]

Standing By
Hulu has ordered a presentation for “Standing By,” an animated comedy from “Schitt’s Creek” co-creator, executive producer and star Dan Levy, writer-director Ally Pankiw, and 20th Television Animation

The story follows a group of eternally bound, disgruntled guardian angels and the lessons they’ll eventually learn from not only the dysfunctional humans they’re in charge of protecting, but also each other. Levy will voice the newly deceased, cynical spotter to the group who had a lonely, isolated life in New York City. [Source: Deadline]

The Empire
Disney Plus Hotstar has revealed the first trailer for its lavish budget eight-episode series “The Empire” based on Alex Rutherford’s bestselling “Empire of the Moghuls” novels and shot across India and Uzbekistan. Nikkhil Advani serves as showrunner and the show premieres on August 27th.

The series offers a fictionalized version of the history of the Moghul empire which dominated South Asia from 1526 to 1720. The story follows young prince Babur, whose father, the king of Ferghana, dies in an accident. His ascent to the throne is in constant danger from an evil warlord.
