She-Ra
Nicole Kassell (“Watchmen,” “Westworld”) has been set to direct and executive produce the pilot for the previously announced live-action “She-Ra” series in development at Amazon and DreamWorks Animation.
No writer is currently attached. In the original cartoon she the long lost twin sister of Prince Adam/He-Man, but the recent Netflix one retconned He-Man out of the equation. [Source: Variety]
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series
Disney+ has handed out an early fourth-season renewal to “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” the pickup coming two months before the third season premiere on July 27th.
The eight-episode third season is set at a sleepaway camp in California where the East High crew and other campers get to experience“an unforgettable summer ripe with romance, curfew-less nights and a taste of the great outdoors. [Source: THR]
Glee
FOX’s musical dramedy series “Glee” will make its streaming debut after having been picked up by Hulu and Disney+ with a June 1st launch date for all six seasons on both platforms. The show, which ran from 2009 to 2015, starred the likes of Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch and Lea Michele. [Source: Hulu]
Saturday Night Live
Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant and Kyle Mooney are all expected to leave “Saturday Night Live” following its 47th season finale tonight. McKinnon and Bryant have both been involved since 2012, Mooney since 2013, and Davidson since 2014. [Source: Variety]
Queer as Folk
Peacock has released the trailer for its reboot of the iconic late 1990s UK and early 2000s US series “Queer as Folk”. This time the action unfolds in New Orleans, where a diverse group of friends navigates their sexuality and future after tragedy rocks their lives. The new run premieres June 9th.
