The Rookie
Following five seasons of work on The CW’s “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” Brandon Routh has joined ABC’s “The Rookie” for a potential season-long arc. He has currently been booked for four episodes, with a possibility for more.
First appearing in the second episode of the show’s upcoming third season, Routh will play Doug Stanton – an eleven-year veteran of the LAPD whose views prove to be polarizing at the Mid-Wilshire station. The series returns January 3rd. [Source: Deadline]
Candy
Hulu has picked up the Elisabeth Moss-ed “Candy” which hails from “The Act” writer and co-executive producer Robin Veith and producer Nick Antosca. A writers room is being set up for the limited event series
Set in Texas in 1980, this is based on the true story of killer Candy Montgomery and her victim, Betty Gore. Moss will play Montgomery, who seemingly had it all who killed her friend from church with an axe. [Source: Deadline]
Texas 6
CBS All Access has renewed the football-themed docuseries “Texas 6” for a second season, the order coming less than a week after the series premiere on Thanksgiving Day. New episodes from the first season will be available on-demand on Thursdays beginning this week through to New Year’s Eve.
The series follows the Greyhounds, a high school six-man football team under the direction of Coach Dewaine Lee as they attempt a three-peat for the Six-Man Football State Championship. [Source: TV Line]
Euphoria
HBO has announced that the upcoming “Euphoria” special is going live early, coming to HBO Max from 9pm US-PT this Thursday – three days ahead of its linear HBO premiere. This also marks the latest move by WarnerMedia to try and drive subscribers to its recently-launched platform. [Source: Variety]
Call Me Kat
Fox has released the first-look trailer for the multi-camera comedy “Call Me Kat,” a reimagining of the UK sitcom “Miranda,” starring Mayim Bialik as a woman who opens her own cat cafe in Kentucky while also breaking the fourth wall.
Set to debut on Thursday, January 7th, the series is executive produced by Bialik and Jim Parson. Kyla Pratt, Leslie Jordan, Cheyenne Jackson and Julian Gant co-star.
