Virgin River
Netflix has extended its popular drama series “Virgin River” for another season – an eighth overall which will make it Netflix’s longest-running live-action scripted series.
Production on the seventh season recently wrapped. Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson, Tim Matheson, Annette O’Toole and Colin Lawrence star in the Northern California-set series. [Source: Deadline]
Untitled Larry David Series
Larry David will star in, co-write and executive produce a new six-episode HBO sketch comedy series about American history, with Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground production company behind the series.
“Curb Your Enthusiasm” writer/executive producer Jeff Schaffer and David will write the series, and Schaffer is also set to direct. The pair will executive produce with the Obamas, Vinnie Malhotra and Ethan Lewis. [Source: THR]
Scrubs
ABC has officially greenlit the “Scrubs” reboot with a straight-to-series order handed out. Stars Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke have closed deals to return in their original roles alongside Zach Braff. Bill Lawrence executive producers while Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra are showrunners.
The new series will follow JD Dorian (Braff) and Christopher Turk (Faison), who scrub in together for the first time in a long time- medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time [Source: Deadline]
The Paper
New “The Office” spin-off series “The Paper” will premiere on Peacock with four episodes on September 4th. Two episodes will then release every Thursday through September 25th.
The series follows the same documentary crew covering a Midwestern newspaper and their struggles. The show hails from creators, writers, and executive producers Greg Daniels and Michael Koman. [Source: Peacock]
Outlander Blood of my Blood
Starz has premiered the official trailer for the epic romance drama series “Outlander: Blood of My Blood,” the first prequel and spin-off to their popular period drama “Outlander”. The new show is scheduled to make its debut on Friday, August 8th on Starz.
The series covers two epic parallel love stories – the parents of the original show’s lead characters Claire Randall and Jamie Fraser. From the battlefields of World War I to the rugged Highlands of 18th-century Scotland, two fated couples must defy the forces that seek to tear them apart.
