Platonic
Apple TV+ has announced a May 24th premiere date for the first three episodes of “Platonic,” the new ten-episode comedy series starring and executive produced by “Neighbors” alums Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen.
Here they play former best friends approaching midlife who reconnect after a long rift. The friendship becomes all-consuming – and destabilizes their lives.
Luke Macfarlane, Tre Hale, Carla Gallo and Andrew Lopez co-star in the series co-created, directed, and co-written by Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco. Byrne, Rogen, Stoller, Delbanco and Conor Welch executive produce. [Source: Apple TV+]
The Perfect Couple
Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Meghann Fahy, Dakota Fanning, Eve Hewson and Jack Reynor are all in various stages of negotiations to star in Netflix’s limited series “The Perfect Couple” which hails from filmmaker Susanne Bier. Gail Berman and Shawn Levy executive produce.
The six-episode murder mystery adaptation of the Elin Hilderbrand novel follows what happens when a body is discovered floating in the harbor on the morning of what was to be a major Nantucket wedding and everyone at the party is a suspect. [Source: Deadline]
The L Word: Generation Q
Showtime has cancelled its queer drama “The L Word: Generation Q” after three seasons, but the franchise may live on as a reboot of the original 2004 series is in development with creator Ilene Chaiken attached. That project is going by the working title “The L Word: New York”. [Source: Deadline]
The Sticky
Margo Martindale, Chris Diamantopoulos and Guillaume Cyr are set to star and Jamie Lee Curtis will guest star in the Canadian comedy series “The Sticky” at Amazon Prime and Blumhouse Television.
The series is inspired by the true story in 2011 when 70% of the global maple syrup supply was stolen. Filming is getting underway in Montreal for a 2024 premiere. [Source: TV Line]
Butch & Sundance
Alex Metcalf will serve as showrunner whilst Kaz Firpo and Ryan Firpo are co-showrunners on AGBO and Amazon Studios’ “Butch & Sundance” TV series starring Rege-Jean Page and Glen Powell.
The project landed a series order last year and was created by “Eternals” scribes the Firpo cousins. Set in an alternate America, Butch Cassidy (Page) and The Sundance Kid (Powell) take on their biggest heist yet. [Source: Deadline]
