Painkiller
Netflix has confirmed an August 10th premiere date for the six-episode limited series “Painkiller” which looks into the opioid crisis and inspired by real events. Peter Berg directs whilst Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster are showrunners.
Uzo Aduba, Matthew Broderick, Taylor Kitsch, Dina Shihabi, and West Duchovny co-star in the series, which is deemed “an examination of crime, accountability, and the systems that have repeatedly failed hundreds of thousands of Americans.” [Source: Netflix]

Hulu and FX have officially set a June 22nd premiere date for the second season of its acclaimed Chicago sandwich shop-set familial drama “The Bear”, which saw its leading man Jeremy Allen White win a Golden Globe earlier this year for his performance. [Source: Twitter]

Outlaws
Amazon Prime Video and BBC One have picked up the comedic thriller series “The Outlaws” for a third season. The show follows a group of strangers from different walks of life forced together to complete a community payback sentence in Bristol.
Stephen Merchant, Rhianne Barreto, Gamba Cole, Darren Boyd (“Honour,” “Hanna”) as Rani, Gamba Cole and Clare Perkins co-star. In the new run, the outlaws try to move on with their lives – until one of their own returns with a deadly secret. [Source: Variety]
The 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards
The 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards reportedly had a 23% increase in viewership compared to last year, even with the last minute switch from a live show to a pre-taped special. The awards were watched by 2 million people on Sunday across simulcasts and earned a 1.45 rating. [Source: Deadline]
