The Others
BTF Media has picked up the TV series rights to Alejandro Amenabar’s 2001 horror classic “The Others” with plans to develop an “unimaginable remake” Spanish-language TV series version. Ricardo Coeto and Francisco Cordero will produce while Guido Rud and Enrique Cerezo executive produce.
Nicole Kidman played a woman living in a fogged in isolated mansion in WW2 – a woman anxious to protect her photosensitive children as she waits for her husband to return from battle in France. The arrival of three enigmatic servants reveals some unexpected revelations. A contemporary remake is in the works at Sentient Entertainment. [Source: Variety]
Golden Globes
Following the Oscars move, the Golden Globes has also been delayed two months and will now take place on February 28th – a good eight weeks before the 93rd Academy Awards and basically taking that show’s now abandoned late February slot.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association made the announcement Monday morning. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are expected to host the 2021 ceremonies. [Source: Variety]
Outliers
HBO Max has begun development of the anthology series “Outliers” based on Malcolm Gladwell’s New York Times bestselling book with “Titans” showrunner to write and executive produce the series. Brian Grazer, Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios are backing the project.
The series is a part historical drama, part biopic and will take a detailed look at why people are successful, what makes them successful and at what cost. The first season will focus on Dr. Anthony Fauci. [Source: Deadline]
The Great North
Fox has renewed the animated comedy “The Great North” for a second season before the first has even gone to air. “Bob’s Burgers” duo Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin are spearheading the series which follows the Alaskan adventures of the Tobin family, as a single dad named Beef (Nick Offerman) does his best to keep his weird bunch of kids close. Into the Unknown: The Making of Frozen 2
Disney+ has released the trailer for “Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2,” a new documentary series about the multi-year creative process to make a sequel to one of the biggest animated hits of all time.
Directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, cast members Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff, and many more of the key crew members and animators are involved in the six episodes which will all be available on Disney+ on June 26th.
