TV News: Moon, Education, Rings, Dummy, Doomlands

Moon Knight
While all Marvel Studios production has been postponed as a result of the global pandemic, a new listing from Production Weekly indicates that the proposed “Moon Knight” TV series is currently scheduled to start shooting under the working title ‘Good Faith’ on November 16th and will run for over six months.

That suggests we could get some casting news for it sooner rather than later. The series will likely debut either late 2021 or early 2022 on the Disney+ service. [Source: ComicBook.com]

Netflix’s British teen comedy series has delayed the start of its third season of production due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the UK’s strict social distancing policies that will be extended for another three weeks. Other series like HBO’s Olivia Colman-led miniseries “Landscapers” and the sixth season of Starz’s “Outlander” are also set to begin their filming in the coming weeks in the UK. [Source: Deadline]

The Lord of the Rings
Renowned Tolkien scholar Tom Shippey has reportedly departed Amazon’s upcoming “The Lord of the Rings” television series. Signum University President Corey Olsen was recently asked about his colleague’s involvement in the mega-budget show during a live-stream and said: “I have spoken to Shippey. Is he still involved? I don’t believe so.”

Shippey, who was involved in director Peter Jackson’s film trilogy, was confirmed to be part of the creative team during a video released in 2019. The series is set to take place during the Second Age in Tolkien’s Legendarium. [Source: CBR]

Dummy
Short form streaming service Quibi has released the trailer for its new Anna Kendrick-led series “Dummy”. The actress plays an aspiring writer befriends her boyfriend’s anatomically correct doll and the two take on the world together. Written and created by Cody Heller (“Wilfred,” “Kidding”), based the story her real-life experiences with her fiance Dan Harmon (“Rick & Morty,” “Community”), the series hits Quibi on April 20th.

Doomlands
Quibi has handed a series order to the Ozploitation-inspired adult animated comedy “Doomlands” from Josh O’Keefe and Josh Bowen for Look Mom! Productions and Blue Ant Studios. The story follows the infamous Danny Doom and aspiring bartender Lhandi who sling beers across a hellish wasteland in their mobile subterranean pub: The Oasis.
