American Gods
Starz has set a January 10th 2021 premiere date for the third season of the Ricky Whittle and Ian McShane-led adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s “American Gods”. Charles ‘Chic’ Eglee takes over as showrunner for the new ten-episode run. [Source: Deadline]

Archive 81
Netflix has greenlit a series adaptation of popular found-footage horror podcast “Archive 81” and have set Mamoudou Athie (“Black Box”) and Dina Shihabi (“Altered Carbon”) to play the lead roles in the eight episode series. Rebecca Sonnenshine (“The Boys,” “The Vampire Diaries”) serves as showrunner.

The story will center on archivist Dan Turner (Athie) as he takes a job restoring a collection of damaged video tapes from the early 1990s, the work of a documentary filmmaker (Shihabi) who was investigating a dangerous cult. As he becomes drawn into her story, Dan becomes convinced he can rescue her from the terrifying end she met 25 years ago. [Source: ]

Pacific Rim: The Black
The first photos have been released from “Pacific Rim: The Black,” a new Netflix anime series inspired by Guillermo del Toro’s sci-fi action blockbuster that is coming to the service in 2021. The photos show off the two new main characters in a Jaeger along with a hulking kaiju they will be facing. The characters are teen siblings piloting an abandoned Jaeger across a hostile landscape in a desperate attempt to find their missing parents.

Stargirl
Nick Tarabay (“The Expanse”) and Jonathan Cake (“The Affair”) will play this season’s major villain Eclipso and recurring guest The Shade respectively in the second season of The CW’s “Stargirl”. In addition Ysa Penarejo has also joined the new season for a mystery role. Eclipso was first teased during the ending of the first season finale when a blue diamond is taken from the Injustice Society of America. [Source: TV Line]

His Dark Materials
BBC and HBO have released one more trailer and behind-the-scenes featurette for the second season of fantasy drama series “His Dark Materials” which returns November 16th. The new clip puts the focus on the subtle knife – the second book’s titular artifact.

Dafne Keen, Ruth Wilson, Amir Wilson, Ariyon Bakare, Andrew Scott, Will Keen, Ruta Gedmintas, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Terence Stamp, Jade Anouka, and Simone Kirby star in the new run of episodes.

The Mandalorian
YouTube channel Malec has posted an opening credits sequence that reimagines “The Mandalorian” as an anime series, more specifically delivering a sequence inspired by the classic “Cowboy Bebop” series. All the key characters are here, even Ludwig Goransson’s theme gets a full on jazz reworking. The clip arrives ahead of the new season which hits Disney+ on Friday.
