It’s official, this year’s 75th Emmy Awards have been pushed back four months and will now premiere on the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday on Monday, January 15th 2024. Additionally, Creative Arts Emmy Awards have moved to January 6th-7th.
The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have delayed the Emmys and with no negotiations currently scheduled between the studios and the two guilds, a work stoppage until year’s end or even early next year is looking possible. [Source: TV Academy]
Still Up
Apple has announced a Friday, September 22nd debut date for the Antonia Thomas and Craig Roberts-led ‘insomniacs in love’ romantic comedy series “Still Up” for the Apple TV+ service.
The first three episodes debut on that date, the rest airing weekly through to October 27th. The series is co-created and written by Steve Burge and Natalie Walter, with Bryce Hart also writing. Blake Harrison, Lois Chimimba, Luke Fetherston, and Rich Fulcher also star. [Source: Apple]
Toxic Town
Netflix is set to do a mini-series about the Corby poisonings, with the likes of Jodie Whittaker, Robert Carlyle, Aimee Lou Wood, Rory Kinnear and Brendan Coyle attached to star.
Jack Thorne (“His Dark Materials”) pens the story about the scandalous toxic waste spillages in the East Midlands and the ensuing legal battle. Filming begins later this month in the UK under an Equity contract. [Source: Deadline]
Solar Opposites
Hulu has premiered another trailer for the fourth season of its adult-animated comedy “Solar Opposites” which returns on August 15th with eleven new episodes.
The series follows a team of four aliens who are evenly split on whether Earth is awful or awesome. Dan Stevens takes over the role of Korvo alongside Sean Giambrone as Yumyulack, Thomas Middleditch as Terry, and Mary Mack as Jesse.
Virgin River
Netflix has released a new trailer for the first part of the fifth season of romantic drama series “Virgin River” which returns on September 7th.
The new season sees Mel and Jack preparing to welcome a baby. It also shows the town of Virgin River engulfed in a massive fire and the fallout of such a disaster.
