Black Earth Rising
Netflix has set a January 25th premiere date for “Black Earth Rising,” the eight-part Netflix/BBC genocide drama starring John Goodman and Michaela Coel. Hugo Blick created the labyrinthine thriller series which airs on BBC Two in the UK.
Coel plays a Rwandan genocide survivor who was adopted by a world-class British prosecutor. Now in her late 20s and a legal investigator for Michael Ennis (Goodman), a case involving an African militia leader will upend her and Ennis’ lives forever. [Source: Twitter]

Epix has renewed its “Get Shorty” series adaptation for a third season. In the series, Chris O’Dowd plays a hitman from Nevada who struggles to shed his criminal past after he moves to Hollywood to become a movie producer. [Source: Epix]
Detroiters
The renewal news comes as Comedy Central has cancelled its Motor City series “Detroiters” after two seasons. Sam Richardson and Tim Robinson starred as two longtime friends and local advertising executives who aim to restore the city’s luster as they hustle to make a living with local accounts. NPR’s popular radio show/podcast “Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me” will be developed by Wilshire Studios and Storied Media Group into a TV series. Hosted by Peter Sagal, the news-themed radio panel show is a fast-paced game of provocative questions and snappy answers about current events. Netflix has revealed the trailer for “3Below,” the second chapter in the ‘Tales of Arcadia’ trilogy following “Trollhunters”. Several familiar faces return in this story of two royal teenage aliens and their bodyguard who flee a surprise takeover of their home planet by an evil dictator, only to crash-land in Arcadia. They struggle to blend in and adapt to the bizarre world of high school, all while attempting to repair their ship so they can return and defend their home planet.
The series will feature Diego Luna. Tatiana Maslany, Nick Offerman, Andy Garcia, Nick Frost, Cheryl Hines, Tom Kenny, Haley Atwell, Danny Trejo, Glenn Close, Ann Dowd, Emile Hirsch, Steven Yeun, Cole Sands, and Kelsey Grammer lend their voices to the thirteen half-hour episodes which hit December 21st.
