Henry Winkler has confirmed that filming on the third season of HBO’s “Barry” has finally begun almost one and a half years after the production was shut down at the beginning of the pandemic and more than two years since a new episode aired. Dead Ringers
Poppy Liu (“Hacks”) has joined the cast of the series remake of David Cronenberg’s “Dead Ringers” at Amazon. Liu joins previously announced series lead Rachel Weisz and Michael Chernus.
Weisz plays the double lead role of Elliot and Beverly Mantle, twins who share everything including an unapologetic desire to push the boundaries on medical ethics in an effort to challenge antiquated practices. Liu will play Greta, the twins’ watchful and meticulous house manager. [Source: Variety]
Truth Be Told
Apple TV+ has released a trailer for the second season of its Octavia Spencer-led anthological drama series “Truth Be Told” which returns August 20th.
In the new season podcaster Poppy Parnell (Spencer) and Micah (Kate Hudson) find Micah’s husband dead. Micah turns to her old friend for help, asking who murdered her husband. However, there appears to be much more to this story than meets the eye.
Bitchin
Showtime has premiered the trailer for “Bitchin’: The Sound and Fury of Rick James” their documentary film showcasing the life and career of the famed musician behind “Super Freak” and “Give It To Me Baby” among other hits. Sacha Jenkins directs the film which will premiere on Showtime on Friday, September 3rd.
Doogie Kamealoha M.D.
The opening title sequence has been released from “Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.,” the upcoming reimagining of the popular 1990s medical drama Doogie Howser, M.D. which launched Neil Patrick Harris’ career.
The ten-episode comedy will premiere on September 8th with new installments dropping every Wednesday. The modern-day Hawaii set story follows a mixed-race 16-year-old girl (Peyton Elizabeth Lee), juggling a budding medical career and life as a teenager.
