This Country
Seann William Scott has signed on for the half-hour FOX pilot remake of the British comedy series “This Country”. The story follows a documentary crew in a small Ohio town to study young adults and their current concerns, including cousins Kelly and Shrub Mallet.
Scott will play Father Joe, a recent transplant and community leader from Minneapolis who is doing the best he can and is a father figure to the Mallets. Jenny Bicks will executive produce. [Source: Variety]
Turner and Hooch
Lyndsy Fonseca (“Agent Carter”) and rising young actress Carra Patterson have been tapped to star opposite Josh Peck in the twelve-episode series reboot of the Tom Hanks-led film “Turner and Hooch” for the Disney+ streaming service. “Burn Notice” creator Matt Nix executive produces.
Matt Nix (“Burn Notice”) executive produces the feature which will revolve around what happens when an ambitious, buttoned-up U.S. Marshal (Peck) inherits an obstreperous canine and how he soon realizes the pet he didn’t want may be the partner he needs. The Responder
Martin Freeman will play a night shift officer in Liverpool in Tony Schumacher’s six-part dark comedy mini-series “The Responder” for The BBC.
Each episode centers on a different shift as Chris deals with a marriage that is breaking down while policing Liverpool’s criminal underbelly. The show deals with the realities of policing in Britain and the complexities of Freeman’s character. [Source: Deadline]
Billions
“Suits” scene stealer Rick Hoffman has joined the cast of the fifth season of Showtime’s hit corporate drama “Billions” which is now shooting in New York. Hoffman will take on the recurring role of Dr. Swerdlow, a medical man with unorthodox methods.
Last season, Bobby Axelrod and Chuck Rhoades, former enemies, and Wendy Rhoades, the chief counselor to each, came together to form an uneasy but highly effective alliance, aimed at the eradication of all their rivals.
