Tung, Parker Lead Oz Perkins’ “Young People”

Universal Pictures

Nico Parker (“How To Train Your Dragon”) and Lola Tung (“The Summer I Turned Pretty”) have scored the two lead roles in “The Young People,” the next film from “Longlegs” and “The Monkey” director Osgood Perkins.

The project has been set up at NEON, their fourth straight collaboration with Perkins following those two films and the upcoming “Keeper” starring Tatiana Maslany. They will also co-finance with Lyrical Media.

Perkins wrote the script in which a high school girl named Sue befriends a new classmate named Kitty. At first, everything seems perfect, but soon Kitty begins to behave strangely, and some other decidedly red flags emerge.

It’s expected that the film will have a relatively tight budget and will shoot this fall in Vancouver ahead of a 2026 release. Perkins, Chris Ferguson and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones will produce.

Tung most recently starred in horror film “Forbidden Fruits,” Parker appears in Maude Apatow’s “Poetic License” which will debut in Toronto next week. NEON will release Perkins’ “Keeper” in November.
