It’s official, HBO has ordered a fourth season of its anthology crime drama “True Detective” with the new run getting a green light.
As previously reported, Oscar-winner Jodie Foster will lead the cast of what’s being titled “True Detective: Night Country”. Aside from some guest voice roles on “The Simpsons,” “The X-Files” and “Frasier” among others, the project marks Foster’s first on-screen TV series work since the early 1970s.
The network also announced today that she will be joined by boxer, actress and motivational speaker Kali Reis (“Catch The Fair One”) in a co-leading role.
In the series, a long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska and the six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace.
To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves and dig into the haunting truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.
The new season will film Iceland with Issa Lopez (“Tigers Are Not Afraid”) serving as showrunner, writer, director and executive producer – replacing show creator Nic Pizzolatto who isn’t involved beyond contractual credits.
