Trevor Noah Sets “President’s Analyst” Remake

Paramount Pictures and “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah are teaming up for remake of the James Coburn-led 1967 political comedy “The President’s Analyst”.

Pat Cunnane, former U.S. President Barack Obama’s senior writer and deputy director of messaging at the White House, is writing the script. Cunnane has also worked on ABC’s “Designated Survivor”.

Coburn starred in the original as a psychiatrist chosen to act as the President’s top-secret therapist. As the President unloads his troubles on the psychoanalyst, the man begins to crack under the strain of all the secrets.

He soon becomes paranoid that agencies, both foreign and national, want what’s inside his head – a fear that turns out to be justified. The remake will be updated for the contemporary political landscape.

The property is being developed as a potential star vehicle for Noah who will produce with Haroon Saleem, Norman Aladjem, Derek Van Pelt and Sanaz Yamin.
