“Moonlight” and “Birdbox” actor Trevante Rhodes will play controversial boxer Mike Tyson in Hulu’s eight-episode drama series “Iron Mike”.

The series will explore the wild, tragic and controversial life and career behind what Hulu dubs “one of the most polarizing figures in sports culture”. Tyson is not involved with the series in any capacity, though is part of another series in the works starring Jamie Foxx.

Though considered one of the greatest heavyweight boxers ever, Tyson was convicted of rape and served three years. He staged a boxing comeback after his release and lost in a 1997 rematch against Evander Holyfield in which he was disqualified for biting off a piece of Holyfield’s ear.

Tyson retired in 2006 but returned to the ring against Roy Jones Jr. last year. “I, Tonya” screenwriter Steven Rogers created the series which that film’s helmer Craig Gillespie will direct.

Karin Gist (“Our Kind of People”) serves as showrunner and executive producer while Margot Robbie and Tom Ackerley also executive produce.
