Stan Australia and Madman Entertainment have released the trailer for “Gold,” the new Zac Efron-led survival thriller feature co-starring and directed by Anthony Hayes (“Cargo”).
Efron and Hayes play two men who discover an incredibly large gold nugget in the middle of the Australian outback. Together, they come up with a plan to unearth and protect their treasure.
To do so, one will stay with the gold while the other goes to get an excavator and equipment required to remove it from the ground.
Efron’s character elects to stay and must fend off the dangers of an inhospitable desert, deadly local fauna and mysterious intruders – all while trying to ignore his growing suspicion that he has been abandoned to his fate.
Polly Smyth co-wrote the film while Hayes, John Schwarz and Michael Schwarz produce. Filmed in the Flinders Ranges late last year, the movie will premiere in cinemas on January 13th and be available to stream on Stan on Australia Day (January 26th).
