Australian distributor Sharmill Films has released the official trailer for controversial filmmaker Woody Allen’s 50th film, the French-language contemporary romantic thriller “Coup de Chance”.
The title will have its world premiere at this year’s Venice Film Festival, where it is screening out of competition.
In the film Fanny and Jean have everything. They are the ideal couple: fulfilled in their professional lives, they live in a magnificent apartment in the high-end districts of Paris and seem to be as in love as the first day they met.
But when Fanny crosses, by chance, Alain, a former high school friend, she is immediately hooked. They see each other again and, very quickly, get closer and closer.
Niels Schneider, Lou de Laage, Valerie Lemercier, Melvil Poupaud, Elsa Zylberstein, Grégory Gadebois, Guillaume de Tonquédec, Sara Martins, Bárbara Goenaga, Arnaud Viard, and Anne Loiret star.
Dubbed a spiritual successor to “Match Point,” the film is lensed by Vittorio Storaro (“Apocalypse Now,” “The Last Emperor”) and is rumored to be one of the 87-year-old filmmaker’s better films in years.
“Coup de Chance” hits French cinemas on September 27th. So far, no U.S. distributor has picked up the film for the United States.
