Twenty years after 2003’s melodrama “The Room” was released to become the ultimate cult film, filmmaker Tommy Wiseau is back with his next effort “Big Shark”.
The trailer has already been playing for audiences at theatrical screenings of “The Room” in recent months but has only now gone online.
The new film follows three New Orleans firefighters, Georgie, Patrick and Tim, as they work to save the city from an attack by a giant shark. Wiseau writes and directs the film and stars in it alongside Isaiah LaBorde and Mark Valeriano.
The film begins a rollout on April 2nd in Portland with screenings in New Orleans, San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York to follow.
Wiseau plans to appear in person for these ‘Pre Premier’ screenings with this roadshow going on for approximately eight months. A release of the ‘Official Final Cut Version’ will then follow.
“Big Shark” may mark his first return to feature directing, but Wiseau has popped up elsewhere in the years since “The Room” opened including helming a documentary short and creating and starring in the sitcom “The Neighbors” on Hulu. His 2013 book “The Disaster Artist” was adapted into the 2017 film of the same name and scored an Oscar nomination for its screenplay.
