Lionsgate

Lionsgate has released the official trailer for the prison-set crime thriller “Wasteman” which premiered in Toronto and begins a rollout in cinemas sometime in 2026.

In the film, a man named Taylor is branded a ‘wasteman’ by society and his family. Currently in prison – a world of parties, gangs, and violence – he’s managed to keep out of trouble.

However, with the arrival of chaotic cellmate Dee, the chance to make early parole and get his life back is put in jeopardy.

“Alien: Romulus” and “The Long Walk” breakout David Jonsson plays Taylor alongside “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” star Tom Blyth as Dee.

Also starring are Neil Linpow as Robby, Alex Hassell as Paul, Corin Silva as Gaz, Keaton Ancona-Francis as Stu, Layton Blake as Maxi, Paul Hilton as Browning.

The film is directed by Cal McMau with Hunter Andrews and Eoin Doran writing the screenplay. The project marks McMau’s feature directorial debut. Sophia Gibber and Myles Payne produce.
