Showtime has released the official trailer for its anthology drama series “The First Lady” which will premiere on April 17th.
Viola Davis will star as Michelle Obama alongside Michelle Pfeiffer as Betty Ford and Gillian Anderson as Eleanor Roosevelt.
The ten-episode series reframes the American leadership through the lens of the women at the heart of the White House as world-changing decisions have been hidden from view, made by America’s charismatic, complex and dynamic First Ladies.
Kiefer Sutherland, Aaron Eckhart, Lily Rabe, Dakota Fanning, Regina Taylor, O-T Fagbenle, Judy Greer, Ellen Burstyn, Jackie Earle Haley and Kate Mulgrew co-star.
The series was created by Aaron Cooley and is executive produced by Cathy Schulman who serves as showrunner. Filmmaker Susanne Bier directs all of the first season.
