Trailer: “Searching” Sequel “Missing”

Screen Gems

The team behind the acclaimed John Cho-led computer screen thriller “Searching” are back for another film along similar lines titled “Missing” at Screen Gems and Stage 6 Films.

When her mother (Nia Long) disappears while on vacation in Colombia with her new boyfriend, June’s (Storm Reid) search for answers is hindered by international red tape.

Stuck thousands of miles away in Los Angeles, June creatively uses all the latest technology at her fingertips to try and find her before it’s too late.

But as she digs deeper, her digital sleuthing raises more questions than answers…and when June unravels secrets about her mom, she discovers that she never really knew her at all.

Joaquim de Almeida, Tim Griffin and Amy Landecker co-star. The first film’s director Aneesh Chaganty hands over the directing chair to Nick Johnson and Will Merrick but remains onboard as co-writer alongside Sev Ohanian.

The new film serves not only as a sequel to “Searching” but a follow-up to the 2020 film “Run” which Johnson, Merrick and Ohanian were all involved in.

The first “Searching” took in $75 million off an $880,000 budget. “Missing” arrives in cinemas on January 20th.
