A24 has premiered the first trailer for “Dream Scenario,” the new surreal R-rated comedy starring Nicolas Cage which recently launched at the Toronto International Film Festival to very good reviews.
Writer/director Kristoffer Borgli (“Sick Of Myself”) is behind the film which follows a hapless family man and inconspicuous academic named Paul Matthews (Nicolas Cage).
Paul finds his life turned upside down when millions of strangers suddenly start seeing him in their dreams and he is thrust into the spotlight.
But when his nighttime appearances take a nightmarish turn, Paul is forced to navigate his newfound stardom. The film co-stars Julianne Nicholson, Michael Cera, Tim Meadows, Dylan Gelula, and Dylan Baker.
“Beau Is Afraid” filmmaker Ari Aster produces the film alongside Lars Knudsen, Tyler Campellone and Jacob Jaffke. Benjamin Loeb (“Mandy,” “After Yang”) is doing the cinematography and Arcade Fire musician Owen Pallett (aka Final Fantasy) is handling the music.
With 27 reviews counted, the film sits at an 85% (7.1/10) on Rotten Tomatoes. Huffington Post calls it a: “darkly funny, and often truthful, look at the rapid hysteria of our real-world cancel culture”.
“Dream Scenario” is slated to be released in cinemas on November 10th.
