Peacock has picked up the rights to STXfilms’ mystery thriller “My Son” starring James McAvoy and Claire Foy with plans to release the film on the streamer on September 15th.

Set in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, Edmond Murray (McAvoy) receives a call from his ex-wife (Foy), in tears – their seven-year-old son went missing from a campsite. Soon it becomes clear that the child was kidnapped and the parents give way to despair. Gary Lewis and Tom Cullen co-star.

The project is an English remake of the acclaimed 2017 French film of the same name by the same director Christian Carion. Carion co-wrote the script with Laure Irrmann.

Like the original, the production was designed in a way that McAvoy was only aware of the very basics of his character and so had to improvise in real-time whereas all the other actors had more fleshed out characters and story beats to follow.
