A24 has premiered the trailer for the new pop melodrama meets horror tale “Mother Mary” which hails from celebrated filmmaker David Lowery (“The Green Knight,” “A Ghost Story”).

Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel lead the film which also stars Hunter Schafer, Atheena Frizzell, Kaia Gerber, Jessica Brown Findlay, Isaura Barbé-Brown, Alba Baptista, Sian Clifford, and FKA Twigs.

The only official synopsis says the film deals with the relationship of a musician and a fashion designer. From the trailer, that relationship is incredibly toxic.

Hathaway plays a famed singer and Coel the original fashion designer whose creations propelled the singer to stardom, and then was left hung out to dry.

Years later, the singer returns to the designer’s workshop, begging to work with her again – the once burned designer surprisingly agrees and so begins a battle of wills between the two women.

Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX write and produce original songs for the film alongside an original score composed by Daniel Hart.

Lowery penned, directs and will produce the film alongside Toby Halbrooks and James M. Johnston, Jeanie Igoe, Jonas Katzenstein, Maximilian Leo and Jonathan Saubach. The film opens in cinemas Spring 2026.
