NEON has released the trailer for the acclaimed Sundance fest entry “Shirley,” a haunting portrait/fictional biography of “The Haunting of Hill House” author Shirley Jackson.
Josephine Decker helms the project which stars Elisabeth Moss as the horror writer who is about to write her masterpiece when the arrival of newlyweds (Logan Lerman, Odessa Young) upends her meticulous routine and heightens tensions in her already tempestuous relationship with her philandering husband (Michael Stuhlbarg).
The middle-aged couple, prone to ruthless barbs and copious afternoon cocktails, begins to toy mercilessly with the naive young couple at their door. The film is said to be highly unconventional both in style and narrative in an effort to provoke Jackson’s work.
Neon is planning a June 5th release.
