IFC Releasing has premiered the trailer for “Idiots,” a new feature comedy from “Green Room” actor turned “The Toxic Avenger” director Macon Blair.
Dave Franco and O’Shea Jackson Jr. star as two unqualified morons who’ve hit rock bottom and are hired to transfer a wealthy but troubled teenager (Mason Thames) to rehab for a shady transport service.
What should be a simple, straightforward job immediately spirals out of control. Kiernan Shipka, Nicholas Braun, and Peter Dinklage also star in the film.
Shot in Georgia last year, the film was an official selection of both the Sundance Film Festival and the SXSW Film Festival. Blair says in a statement:
“The big spectacle of the movie is the ensemble: it’s a pile-up of dynamite actors going full tilt through broad slapstick comedy, chase movie shenanigans, nasty human darkness and ultimately a hopeful friendship story/. From the on-fire leads to the scene-stealing cameos, it was a plain delight to watch every single one of these folks work at being Idiots.”
Luke Wilson and Tracy Morgan were previously attached to an earlier incarnation of the project almost a decade ago when it went by the name “The S–theads”.
The 98-minute “Idiots” opens exclusively in cinemas on August 28th.
