Two years after its premiere the Sundance Film Festival, “Birds of Prey” director Cathy Yan’s feature directorial debut “Dead Pigs” is finally hitting the United States.
Ahead of its release on MUBI this Friday, a trailer has gone online for the film which is dubbed a part family drama, part absurdist comedy, and an all-out social satire.
Inspired by true events, the fates of an unlucky pig farmer, a feisty home-owner, a lovestruck busboy, a disenchanted rich girl, and an American ex-pat seeking fortune converge and collide as thousands of dead pigs are found floating down the Huangpu River towards a modernizing Shanghai.
