20th Century Studios has released a brand-new trailer for the Sandra Oh and Awkwafina-led comedy feature “Quiz Lady” which will premiere directly on Hulu on November 3rd.
The story follows Anne (Awkwafina), who is a tightly wound game show-obsessed woman who must come together with her chaotic sister Jenny (Oh) in order to pay off their mother’s gambling debts.
When Anne’s beloved dog is kidnapped, they set off on a cross-country journey to get the money they need. To do so, they will have to tap into Anne’s skill set by turning her into a game show champion.
Jason Schwartzman, Holland Taylor, Tony Hale, Jon Park and Will Ferrell co-star in the project, which hails from “Ping Pong Playa” director Jessica Yu along with the producers of “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar”.
The roles are said to go against type as Awkwafina plays the quiet, dowdy one whilst Oh is the more hysterical and wacky one in this. The comedy is said to be R-rated but a “soft, lowercase R” according to Oh. Both actresses also produced the film.
“Quiz Lady” is scheduled to premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival this weekend ahead of its Hulu premiere.
