Trailer America The Motion Picture
Netflix

Briefly appearing the other day before being taken down, Netflix has now officially premiered the trailer for “America: The Motion Picture,” an R-rated animated film offering a radically different look at the birth of the United States of America.

Channing Tatum leads the voice cast as a chainsaw-wielding George Washington who assembles a team of rabble-rousers – including beer-loving bro Sam Adams (Jason Mantzoukas), famed scientist Thomas Edison (Olivia Munn), acclaimed horseman Paul Revere (Bobby Moynihan), and an angry Geronimo (Raoul Trujillo) – to defeat Benedict Arnold and King James (Simon Pegg) in the American Revolution.

Judy Greer, Will Forte, Andy Samberg, rapper Killer Mike, and Amber Nash also star and yes, that is not a mistake about Munn’s role as Edison.

The project hails from “Archer” executive producer Matt Thompson who directs from a script by “Shang-Chi” film writer David Callaham. The pair also serve as producers with “Archer” creator Adam Reed, Tatum, Peter Kiernan, Reed Carolin, and “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

“America: The Motion Picture” hits Netflix on June 30th.
