Amazon’s Prime Video has premiered the first trailer for its revival of previously axed long-running Australian soap opera “Neighbours”.
After nearly four decades on screens, the show was officially and abruptly cancelled early 2022 with the feature-length final episode in late July seeing the return of the likes of Kylie Minogue and Guy Pearce.
Then in November, Amazon announced it would resurrect the series with the revitalised version. Episodes will initially launch on the show’s old home of Channel Ten and then will shift to the streamer seven days after its free-to-air viewing.
The series will launch September 25th on Prime Video in Australia, and on Amazon Freevee in both the United Kingdom and United States.
A good portion (but far from all) of the regulars at the time of the show’s end have signed on with filming beginning back in April. Confirmed returnees are Stefan Dennis as Paul Robinson, Alan Fletcher as Karl Kennedy, Jackie Woodburne as Susan Kennedy, Ryan Moloney as Toadie Rebecchi, Rebekah Elmaloglou as Terese Willis, Ian Smith as Harold Bishop, Tim Kano as Leo Tanaka and more.
Former “The O.C.” alum Mischa Barton will also guest star in the revival as an American new to Erinsborough who is not quite who she appears to be. She can be glimpsed, alongside returning faces, including guest star Guy Pearce, in the clip which has just been released.
