“Toxic Avenger” Opens Fantastic Fest 2023

The Peter Dinklage-led reboot of Troma’s “The Toxic Avenger” will open and Blumhouse’s time-travel slasher “Totally Killer” will close this year’s Fantastic Fest at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, Texas.

The Fantastic Fest 2023 lineup has been revealed, and it brings a host of genre premieres to the festival once again taking place at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar in Austin, TX.

Other notable premieres include Gareth Edwards’ sci-fi work “The Creator,” the Stephen King prequel “Pet Sematary: Bloodlines,” and the first two episodes of Mike Flanagan’s Netflix series “The Fall of the House of Usher”.

There’s also one of the recently passed Angus Cloud’s final performances in the world premiere of thriller “Your Lucky Day,” Neon’s noir thriller “Eileen” starring Anne Hathaway, the Stone Age-set thriller “The Origin,” and the world premiere of the second season of HBO’s “30 Coins”.

There’s also a new installment of found-footage horror anthology “V/H/S/85” from Shudder, JT Mollner’s “Strange Darling,” the Jamie Childs action film “Jackdaw,” and Vera Drew’s acclaimed and infamous “The People’s Joker”.

Special screenings include a 4k restoration of Gregg Araki’s “Nowhere,” Paul Vecchiali’s Giallo thriller “The Stranger,” and the underground queer crime movie “Blonde Death”.
