Advance tickets are now on sale for “Top Gun: Maverick” more than three weeks ahead of its May 27th release date.
One of the summer’s most anticipated movies, the film screened at last week’s CinemaCon to an ecstatic reception from critics, media and cinema owners.
Paramount has announced the creation of ‘Top Gun Tuesday,’ an early access premiere screening event allowing fans access to the film three days early on the night of Tuesday, May 24th.
Tickets can be acquired from today across top tier-large format theaters including Dolby Cinemas and IMAX, the latter releasing a new poster for the film which you can see below.
Joseph Kosinski helms the film which also sees longtime Tom Cruise collaborator Christopher McQuarrie on board in a producing and writing capacity. Speaking about the film to Mulderville, McQuarrie says the movie allows audiences to jump in without seeing the Tony Scott-directed original:
“We found ourselves leaning towards recreating moments from the film as opposed to creating new ground and we found time and again that the more we let go of the original movie and went into our own direction, the film became more true.
And there really was the possibility to make something that stood alone. It was very important to Tom and I [that] when we would talk about ‘Top Gun’ you didn’t have to see the original movie to enjoy this one.”
Oscar-winner Lady Gaga has provided the original single for the film “Hold My Hand” which has just been released online and can be heard below.
