Tom Hiddleston is set to co-star with Claire Danes in the series adaptation of Sarah Perry’s novel “The Essex Serpent” for Apple.
The one-hour drama follows newly widowed Cora (Danes) who, having being released from an abusive marriage, relocates from Victorian London to the small village of Aldwinter in Essex.
There she’s intrigued by a local superstition that a mythical creature known as the Essex Serpent has returned to the area. Hiddleston plays Will Ransome, the trusted leader of a small rural community.
Danes replaced Keira Knightley in the lead role in the Clio Bernard-directed feature with the first look photo included above. No air date has yet been announced.
