With Warner Bros. Discovery cutting back costs wherever it can, and with the cancellation or ending of the various DC Arrowverse shows, many have wondered about the fate of the various DC series on HBO Max.
“Pennyworth” is in the midst of airing a third season, whilst both “Doom Patrol” and “Titans” will have already shot fourth seasons on the way later this Fall. The question is whether these shows can go beyond that.
“Titans” showrunner Greg Walker has now spoken about that show’s chances for a fifth season, saying HBO Max hasn’t decided yet. Previously the show has been given an early renewal before they premiered their new season, and while that does’t seem the case this time Walker tells Inverse that HBO Max is behind them all the way:
“You know as much as I do… [we’re] in a wait and see mode… we’re excited about this season. HBO Max is incredibly supportive of the show and really helping us become the show we want to be and get us in front of as many people as possible. If you’ve got an idea where it’s going, let’s meet and have a conversation because I want to know.”
The new season will introduce villains like Brother Blood (Joseph Morgan) and finally tackle Superboy’s background with Lex Luthor (Titus Welliver), and reportedly was mapped out as a regular season as opposed to one where they knew it would be a final one.
The fourth season of “Titans” begins November 3rd on the service.
