Tim Burton is reportedly developing a new “The Addams Family” TV series, the project marking Burton’s first major live-action TV series.
The “Beetlejuice” and Mars Attacks” filmmaker is negotiating to executive produce and possibly direct all episodes of this new live-action take on the franchise. “Smallville” duo Alfred Gough and Miles Millar will be head writers, executive producers and showrunners.
MGM TV financed the development of the series with multiple buyers, including Netflix, circling. The new series is reportedly set in present times and will unfold the perspective of Wednesday Addams and what the world would look like to her in 2020.
Charles Addams’ original cartoon strips have been adapted to screen before including two 1990s live-action films, two live-action TV series, and recently an animated feature which is also getting a sequel.
