TikTok Pushes Noe’s “Love” Into Netflix Top 10

A challenge on TikTok has helped raise Gaspar Noe’s erotic art house title “Love” into Netflix’s Top 10 in the last week of June and it has remained there ever since.

The film has been out since 2015, but recently a trending TikTok challenge by user bella_ashley in response to Netflix’s Polish drama “365 Days” asked people to watch the film’s opening sequence and record their reactions.

The story follows a young film student living in Paris with his French girlfriend, and the problems that come up when they invite their neighbor into their bed. Shot in 3D, the drama included numerous scenes of unsimulated sex and quickly became controversial at that year’s edition of the Cannes Film Festival.

Indeed the opening sequence is effectively a real time mutual masturbation scene which runs for several minutes and goes all the way to completion including his ejaculation.

In January, Netflix announced that the streamer counts just two minutes of streaming as a view so it’s not clear how many of those who watched the film for the challenge made it past the opening minutes.
