“Dumplin” and “Burden” actor Tian Richards has landed the role of Tom Swift in an upcoming episode of The CW’s “Nancy Drew” series.
That episode will serve as a backdoor pilot for a potential spin-off series focused on his Swift character. Should it go to series, Richards will continue in the role.
The show would follow the serialized adventures of the titular black, gay, billionaire inventor thrust into a world of sci-fi conspiracy and unexplained phenomena after his father disappears
Tom takes to the road on a quest to unravel the truth, leaving behind his comfortable moneyed lifestyle and fighting to stay one step ahead of an Illuminati-scale group hell-bent on stopping him.
Hailing from executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, “Tom Swift” is considered one of the CW’s strongest early contenders for next season.
