Australian actor Brenton Thwaites, who portrays Dick Grayson/Nightwing in “Titans” on the DC Universe streaming service, has offered an update on how the third season is progressing.
Speaking with Rotten Tomatoes, Thwaites says: “I’ve received a few scripts, so they’ve written a little bit and I think they are just waiting to see, yeah, waiting to see if we can shoot.”
Thwaites adds that several of the actors, including himself, live outside of the United States which makes travel and filming difficult as they have to be able to bring everyone together.
The series films over a six or seven month period with the second season shot between April and October last year and airing between September and November – a very tight post-production turnaround.
With the inevitable delays that come with filming in current global conditions, and with shooting on a new season having not begun yet, the earliest a third season could conceivably air is mid-late 2021.
Then there’s the complication of HBO Max. With the other DC Universe series like “Doom Patrol” and “Harley Quinn” moving over to HBO Max, it’s quite likely “Titans” will make its new domestic home there when it returns.
