HBO has set an August 21st premiere date for “House of the Dragon,” the network’s first spin-off series of its record-breaking fantasy juggernaut “Game of Thrones”.
A new poster and a series of character stills have also been released from the ten-episode prequel series which is set two centuries before the events of ‘Thrones’.
Created by author George R. R. Martin and Ryan J. Condal, the series will cover how the House of Targaryen fell into the bitter and brutal civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons – signalling the beginning of the end for the ruling family of Westeros.
Paddy Considine, Emmy D’Arcy, Matt Smith, Rhys Ifans, Olivia Cooke, Fabien Frankel, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Ryan Corr, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Graham McTavish, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson and Gavin Spokes star.
Condal and director Miguel Sapochnik are executive producers and co-showrunners on the series, whilst Martin and Vince Gerardis are executive producing.
