HBO’s big-budget fantasy drama “Game of Thrones” came to an end last night, the series finale watched by a record 19.3 million viewers across HBO’s platforms. That exceeds the previous series high of 18.4 million viewers from last week.
In addition, the episode was the most-watched single telecast record on HBO ever with 13.6 million viewers tuning in for the 9pm airing – taking out the network’s previous high of the 13.4 million who tuned in for “The Sopranos” S4 premiere in 2002.
The eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones” has averaged 44.2 million viewers per episode in gross audience, an increase of more than 10 million viewers from last season.
