Three More Anne Rice Series Planned

AMC

Ever keen to build a major franchise, AMC kicked off what it dubs the ‘Anne Rice Immortal Universe’ back in October with the acclaimed first season of “Interview with the Vampire” and followed that up with the launch of “Mayfair Witches” earlier this month.

Both works share a connected supernatural world based on the over fifteen novels written by the late best-selling author, and it seems the network has plans to adapt more in the near future – quite a few more in fact.

Mark Johnson is a veteran producer who has worked on dozens of films and shows since the late 1970s as well as being a regular at AMC, where he worked on the likes of “Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul” and “Halt and Catch Fire”.

He’s also the key player in charge of overseeing the ‘Immortal Universe’ initiative and recently spoke with Collider where he confirmed they have at least three other projects set within this universe planned for AMC and the AMC+ service:

“We’re developing three other things, at the same time, all of them different. People ask me what these shows have in common, or what these books have in common, and I actually think it’s her characters, no matter how tortured or odd.”

… Is there a show to be made about Lasher [Jack Huston]? Is there a show to be made about the Fang Gang? There’s no book that is about the Talamasca, but I think there’s a great series about the Talamasca. Their job it is to monitor these extraordinary events and creatures and not get involved, but to watch. So, I think the answer is yes, this will keep going.”

Alexandra Daddario and Jack Huston lead the “Mayfair Witches” cast which hails from “Masters of Sex” duo Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford. “Interview with the Vampire” stars Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson and is showrun by Rolin Jones (“Perry Mason”) with Alan Taylor (“Game of Thrones”) also onboard.

“Mayfair Witches” is in the midst of airing its first season run now, whilst ‘Interview’ wrapped its first season airing late last year with a second season on the way.
