Netflix, Amazon and Apple are reportedly the big contenders in the running to snag the animated series “Batman: Caped Crusader” following HBO Max’s decision to let go of the project.
The project is to be executive produced by filmmakers J.J. Abrams (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”) and Matt Reeves (“The Batman”), along with original 1990s “Batman: The Animated Series” co-developer Bruce Timm.
The aim was that the new show would recapture the magic of that iconic early 1990s series with deeper psychological dives and a cinematic and evocative noir-style to its presentation.
A few weeks back, it was indicated the series was going to be shopped to potential buyers, and now it reportedly has happened with the show being shopped around since last week with Abrams and Reeves pitching to the major streamers.
