It was expected, and now it’s confirmed – Taika Waititi’s “Thor: Love and Thunder” is set to launch on September 8th on the Disney+ service along with the Tom Hanks-led “Pinocchio” movie, the CG animated series “Cars on the Road,” and a making of special about “Obi-Wan Kenobi”.
The launches coincide with ‘Disney+ Day’, the annual virtual event to promote the Disney+, Hulu, and Star+ streaming services with announcements of new films and TV series coming to the service.
The first event took place in November last year and saw the premiere of “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” on the service around two months after it was released in cinemas. The same thing is happening here with the fourth “Thor” standalone film arriving on SVOD two months after its release in cinemas.
The first Disney+ day last year was not well received though did include some key announcements such as the release plans for “Prey”.
