Ahead of the first film’s release this weekend, producer Rob Hickman has spilled the beans on the third film in the new “Kickboxer” film trilogy reboot.
Alain Moussi replaces Jean-Claude Van Damme as the new Kurt Sloane while Van Damme steps into the role of Kurt’s mentor Durand in the films which begin with “Kickboxer: Vengeance” this weekend in limited release and on iTunes.
Talking at the premiere in Los Angeles this week, Hickman confirms the sequel “Kickboxer: Retaliation” has already wrapped shooting with plans for the third film going forward. Titled “Kickboxer: Syndicate,” the project will begin shooting in February with Moussi and Van Damme likely to return.
No word on supporting cast members at this point – Dave Bautista, Gina Carano, and Georges St-Pierre are in ‘Vengeance’ while Mike Tyson, Roy ‘Big Country’ Nelson, Brian Shaw, and Hafþor JulÃus Bjornsson (aka The Mountain from Game of Thrones) are in ‘Retaliation’.
