Theo James To Lead King Tale “Monkey”

HBO

“The White Lotus” star Theo James has been cast as the lead of the new horror movie “The Monkey” based on the short story by Stephen King with this adaptation created by James Wan.

The story begins when twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic. A series of gruesome deaths start occurring all around them, so the brothers decide to throw the monkey away and move on with their lives, growing apart over the years.

But when the mysterious deaths begin again, the brothers must reunite to find a way to destroy the monkey for good before it takes the lives of everyone close to them.

Wan, Michael Clear, Jason Cloth, and Dave Caplan are all producing. The supernatural story has been adapted for the screen by Osgood Perkins (“Longlegs”), who will also direct and additional casting is underway.

Wan recently produced “M3GAN” and has his own directorial sequel effort “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” coming later this year. Theo James, who previously served as the male co-lead in the “Divergent” franchise, will next be seen leading the TV adaptation of Guy Ritchie’s “The Gentlemen”.
