“The White Lotus” S3 To Be Set In Thailand

HBO

Multiple sources have indicated the upcoming third season of HBO’s award-winning drama “The White Lotus” is heading to Thailand.

The first two seasons were shot at actual Four Seasons resorts in the places the story took place – namely Hawaii and Italy. In Thailand, the hotel chain has properties in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui and the Golden Triangle which offers various settings.

White had previously hinted the third season would take place in Asia and offer a “satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality”.

White has reportedly been spending time in Thailand scoping out locations. Casting details for the new run have yet to be announced and there’s no word on a production date as yet.

The second season of “The White Lotus” averaged 10.1 million viewers per episode in total, a 50% jump from the first season. It also sits at 89% (8.4/10) on Rotten Tomatoes.

Those are very solid numbers. Even so, in terms of both HBO viewership and acclaim, the show sits below both “House of the Dragon” with 29 million viewers per episode and RT score of 93% (7.85/10), as well as “The Last of Us” with 30.2 million viewers per episode and RT score of 96% (8.75/10).

White, who writes and directs “The White Lotus,” executive produces alongside David Bernad and Mark Kamine.
